"I'm going to be the brightest Star in the world!"
This is the sentiment of every young luminescent—particularly Mindie Tachibana-Callahan. After all, the world is crawling with Shades that bring darkness and wreak havoc wherever they happen to appear. With her ambition aimed high, she fights for her goal of finishing the school's annual Shade-slaying competition as the undisputed, top-seeded Star. A story like this is practically begging for her to be its protagonist.
At least, that's how Pike DeSanto sees it.
As Mindie's best friend of meager presence, Pike graciously accepts his role as a side character in this story. Although, being a luminescent himself often means he still gets caught up in the chaos. Literally.
