In the late 1940's, the United States reversed engineered a strange machine of unknown origins, and opened a portal to a magical world. Not yet identified within the observable universe, the planet named Adon hosted not just life, but intelligent life previously only found within myths and fairytales. The portal, briefly relocated to Groom Lake and then permanently to Cheyenne Mountain, was included as part of the US Federal Government Continuity of Operations. Amidst the threat of total thermonuclear annihilation, the US Government approved American expansion into Adon in complete secrecy in preparation for the unlikely event that the United States needed a new home. For decades, American activity in Adon slowed down at the collapse of the Soviet Union. In the 21st century, fears of a new cold war renewed interest in Adon. But it was only after unexpected visitors appeared did the US Government approve aggressive measures to be taken in order to remain the dominant power no one knew existed.
