Earth First Project, a environmental non profit organisation created and patented a special sea plate in 2021.

These plates used solarpower to generate algae growth and sunlight below it's surface to generate oxygen in the process. Over the course of a couple of years the island grew in the northern atlantic. In 2027 a unforseen incident in the Suez canal caused the container distribution between europe and asia to stagger. As they had to ship around the african continent, the shipping companies used the Earth First Project as a distrubution harbour. Trade flourished and the island as well as the Earth First Project continued to grow enourmously and took on many major problems in the European Union.

Soon part of their prison inmates, waste recycling and immigration problems were handled by the non profit organisation. Shortly thereafter the European Union granted them custom benefits to enable the city growth and the Earth First Project quickly transformed to become a independent ocean state.

But who was behind the Suez incident? And why?
