Fifteen-year-old Karen Raynor just wants to be employed after graduation – but being employed at ANGEL, the government's underground department of magical affairs is no easy task. You don't just need to be a top notch magus, you have to have experience in the field too.

Because of this requirement, she's forced to leave her comfortable life in the country for the city, where her aunt runs a detective agency. Along with Bran Lietmann, a supposed demon slaying prodigy who looks more suitable to slaying math tests than anything, they tackle rumors of supernatural occurrences around the city. Most of these are just stories made up by junkies and alcoholics, but occasionally they come across something more serious.

This is their tale.

To those who have read one of my other fictions, Blood Princess, the Bran in this story is an alternate universe Bran to that story.
