All of existence began when the creator crafted the first eternal souls from the great nothingness, these new souls and the beings that they became were deemed as gods. In an attempt to alleviate their creator's indifference to all things these gods crafted countless worlds which they could all watch over and perhaps find some form of amusement from. This act of grand creation pleased the creator for some time causing the creator to craft into being the grand soul forge which would eternally birth new souls to populate all worlds, but the creator eventually returned to the prior indifference.

Over time there grew to be more souls throughout all of existence than even the creator would have ever imagined coming into being. To decrease the countless number of souls that simply recycled themselves amongst the countless worlds, the creator designed angels to act as the arbiters and executioners of souls. This served as only a temporary solution though, as angels could only destroy the souls they had judged to be flawed or tainted beyond redemption. Thus many gods took notice of the growing problem and from some of the angels they created demons who would collect and absorb souls of all sorts without the crippling restrictions of the angels, instead of simply destroying those that they had judged and found lacking these new demons would tempt and craft contracts to obtain souls. As the soul forge eternally birthed new souls, the angels and demons worked together and regulated all the souls in existence to a managible level resolving the crisis of overtaxing all of creation with the number of souls. However, over time even the gods began to lose interest in the worlds they had birthed and along with the creator many of them began to distance themselves from all of existence.

The creator and many of the gods have now become mere passive observers. They disinterestedly observe over all of creation and the struggles of the many races and creatures they had brought into being in the past, waiting for a something new to stimulate them once more. The angels and demons have grown to despise and resent one another, their original unity having descended to a mere fragile truce that barely staves off total war. Mortals of countless worlds have long since forgotten why they even exist or who brought them into being, they have even lost the knowledge of the existence of their own souls.

All of creation itself is in a state of unchecked chaos, and from this chaos will emerge a great shift in all things.

For where there is a creator, there must emerge a destroyer…
