Hard times give birth to hardy folks. When exposed to danger they learn to laugh into its face. When burdened by poverty or loss they struggle to stand straight. People adapt, grow roots, prevail. Yet, there are few things that most know better then cross paths with. Things vile and treacherous lurk in shadows of the forest. If you never heard of those then ask an adventurer in a tavern. A tankard or two will loosen his tongue. Better yet if tavern has a bard, who made trade out of truth. If you don't have money for either ale or music, then lend a hand to an old lady. Elderly tend to repay kindness with stories. One word of advice, though. If you ask for a story of the Caveman, then be subtle and do it in whisper. Hardy or not, people treat those too curious like strangers.
