What happened before qi existed?

James is thrown into a world with no technology, no magic, nothing but his body and memories. Will he rise to the occasion and conquer this new world, or fall into despair as he realizes life might not matter?

The mc is from the modern era, and he'll have a naïve mindset of someone who's lived with the luxury of not trying to survive. But he will learn the customs of the land and will likely adopt a lot of the thinking.
