Tucked away on a small island, just off the southeastern shores of Arta, Wellynd, a seventeen-year-old boy, works as a skald smuggler for his Uncle. But, for Wellynd, delivering the mysterious and explosive ore to criminals on the mainland was far from the future he'd envisioned.

Having failed the entrance examination into the Observatory, a prestigious organisation where disciples train to unlock the arcane secrets of the Koshai, Wellynd must find a new purpose under the active occupation of an invading military and growing political tensions.

To carve out his own path, and discover his own power, Wellynd must overcome his peculiar limitations and unlock the mysteries of the Koshai himself.
