Eleven-year-old Bradley Atkins' life has been thrown into turmoil by his parent's decision to move house. As he struggles to deal with the transition he meets Alice, his neighbour, and discovers she too shares a love of Fencing. Together they get drawn into the fantastical world of Sir Darren De Silva – local Fencing teacher, and, unbeknown to all, cursed knight. De Silva has already died once and has no intention of doing so again. However, he's struggling to find the Fairy Queen's eye and if he doesn't, she's going to kill him for real this time.

When Brad and Alice accidentally discover a doorway to Olde England circa 600AD they become embroiled in De Silva's quest. Through the Magic Capital of Angelmere, on into Fae and beyond to Limbo, they must face everything from depressed trolls to exploding iced buns, venomous trees (whose bark is worse than their bite) and finally, an ancient dragon with a penchant for stealing fairy's eyes.
