Seventeen-year-old Ran Sumeragi , a struggling high school delinquent living a dissatisfying life at the bottom rung of society, while being jobless and poor is unable to take care of his younger sister & pay for her operation treatment. Until one day he is given a new chance at life when the world is engulfed by a black hole. He awakens in a Futuristic alternate reality ruled by a surreal RPG system called "Zone". In this new world, players can rise through the social ranks & earn money by battling monsters emerging from portals called vortexes.

Despite his relocation to another world, Ran faces numerous setbacks. After nearly succumbing to death in a low-level dungeon, he unlocks the potential of his sole possession—a mysterious item that could give him a fighting chance. However, after unleashing the item he finds himself stuck at level zero. Even in another world, his bad luck has followed him. What dangerous encounters will he face?
