Shi is generally considered a troubled girl. One taken from her family at a young age and experimented on by a bunch of madmen.

Even her name was given to her by them. It's nothing more than a number - 4, but also a permanent reminder of her past. That past remains, even if she now goes by Shina.

Despite being freed and placed into a foster home in Sapphine, the worst city in all of California, Shina actually grew up quite well.

Only, her power won't leave her alone, and death has a morbid attraction to her.

"I die." That's the saying the researchers drilled into her head. "And return again."

But...

When she gets pulled back and Shi can't remember her death, is this really the same her that had died? Or is it as she believes, that she truly meets her end, and that each rebirth is just a copy of herself?

"I don't return." So she wouldn't use it. But she's just... so scared. "I don't want to die."

But some things are scarier than death, and some things are worth giving her life for - many lives for.
