The System was humanity's ultimate technological achievement: created to give purpose and meaning to those who had long ago embraced an existence of vapid decadence.

Fifty thousand years have passed and humanity now only exists in the cracks of an incomprehensible megastructure. The System is all but a memory, only present in untranslatable prompts and the monstrosities it spawns to harry the last surviving members of the species.

But in a darkened village living on the edge, a young man is inducted into the System like many others. Unlike many others though, random chance and mutation has reactivated in him the gene which his ancestors used to debug the system.

With this edge and the support of his clan, perhaps he can journey into the megastructure to the seat of the System. Perhaps he can reconfigure the System to aid humanity rather than persecute it. Perhaps he can bring a new dawn to his nearly extinct species.
