The Dragonknights are men of legend, mighty swordbearers entrusted with mythical blades and their accompanying steeds, who are tasked with maintaining peace and order. Like the cycle of the seasons, so the cycle of the Knights must begin anew, as fresh blood is recruited to assume their mantles and continue the Dragonknights' reign.

Milius Manchester is a young, unassuming farmer whose life has been dappled with tragedy, yet he always finds a way to push forward. But now his mental fortitude and physical prowess are tested in ways he could scarcely imagine as he finds himself in numerous life-or-death situations when the Dragonknights come to town, seeking to appoint their successors.

Now he stands alongside three others, including his own cousin, as they strive to improve as much as possible in an inconceivably short time, one of the last lines of defense against the oncoming tide of darkness threatening to engulf their world.
