Ever think you were born to die? Michael did. Not in some nihilistic, hopeless way. Rather in the 'everybody becomes a statistic eventually' way. But Michael never believed it more than the night he woke beneath a mythological beast who broke into his house to kill him. Perspective's funny like that.
In the span of three days Michael came to learn four harrowing secrets of the world. One. The world was made by gods, in much the same way you'd make an ornate clay pot. Two. The gods created an untold mess of immortal citizens to live in their world, and then died in a war fighting them. Three. All the arcane laws of the world were laid to rest in the soil, and now live in the bones and blood of a select, deeply unfortunate few, known as Legacies.
In the month that follows Michael learns to fight his fears as well as his foes. And all at once, must battle with the mysterious disappearance of his mother, the lifelong secrets kept by his closest friends, all while becoming a centerpiece for the survival of all Legacy-kind.
Oh, and Four? Michael would never go back.
