A kid named jay is training for arena fighting, where abilities called gifts give champions an edge against their opponent in battle. jay is in their second year at highschool and just learned about the sport, due to jay thinking that all sports were "for people who are actually strong". jay decided to train as they really wanted to earn a gift and they really liked their new master. they always loved learning about different gifts but think themselves too stupid to actually study them professionally.
