Elven Spellcaster Belladonna D'Gardenia's quest to defeat the Demon King ended in victory and defeat. Her party defeated, she resorted to a form of magic requiring a heavy price. In the end, she was able to open a portal that banished the Demon King from their world, but at the cost of being caught up in the portal's power herself.

Soon after, she finds herself in Night City's dystopian future, surrounded by a bizarre world of high technology, neon, and chrome. Now, Belladonna must navigate this unfamiliar world, where her magical abilities attract the attention of opportunistic gangs, fixers, and corpos alike.
