There'd been warnings about environmental disaster for years, but who'd have guessed humanity's impact on the environment would also include the thinning of the veil between the worlds? Now, the oceans have risen, coastal cities have drowned, and the Earth has been reduced to an apocalyptic backwater over-run by fae and cryptid creatures who were once only thought to exist in fairytales, myth and legend.
Lilly Frazer abandoned her dream of medical school to look after her ailing mother and run the family's ancient hotel in the Highlands of Scotland. When a vampire turns up at her hotel looking for accommodation, Lilly's suspicion is piqued when she realises he isn't exactly telling the truth about his visit. Was he working for HAVA (the Human and Vampire Alliance), or were his intentions even more sinister?
No humans liked vampires since they'd 'come into the light' and taken over the running of the drowned world, but vampires had to be grudgingly tolerated - humans didn't have much of a choice. But Lilly's vampire guest turned everything upside down, and Lilly needed to safeguard her heart just as diligently as she protected her hotel and its people.
