In an indefinite and remote time, ruled by the Nobility of Sword and regulated by the principles of the Knight's Code, a flourishing kingdom is unexpectedly attacked and taken by an unknown enemy against whom all defenses prove vain. Its troops, made of miserable and revolting creatures, appear out of nowhere and spread everywhere, defeating any human resistance.
Only a Company of Knights, led by Sigismund, manages to escape after various adventures. They fight valiantly against their pursuers, but their overwhelming numbers make resistance futile. Just when they are about to embrace death, unexpected help arrives: a horde of an unknown people arrives in time to annihilate the opponents and save what remains of the Company of Knights.
The next day a new danger approaches, but it actually turns out to be an infantry corps that survived the massacre and was separated from Sigismund's during the battle, so both believed the other was annihilated. Astor, Sigismund's kinsman, leads them.
They decide to join forces with the new allies, who in the meantime decide to return home to escape the danger that looms over them.
Confidence grows between the two peoples as they exchange their different customs. Sigismund notices a strange and unexplainable affinity, as if their different origins could have received a common imprint.
After a long but peaceful journey, they start to see the Capital.
As the two captains meticulously describe what happened, a violent and sudden storm unleashes on the city, shaking its foundations, and the army realizes they are being hunted by the enemy once again.
The Elders, terrified by the report and suddenly aware that the danger is not over, but instead impending and about to strike them, consider blaming the foreigners and abandoning them to their fate.
Ronald, Head of the Assembly, declares the urgent and pressing need for the opinion of a wise guide who has always come to their aid in times of need: an ancient Seer.
The next morning, an expedition composed of Sigismund's Knights, Ronald, and Astor sets off to reach his abode.
They reach a peak and Sigismund rushes to climb it. An irresistible invitation, like the feeling of being close to solving the mystery attracts him. They enter the abode of the Seer and, upon his appearance, the two captains are amazed as they recognize in his figure the resemblance of a pristine Knight, founder of their realm. He reveals himself, confirming their intuition, and he explains the cause and the first impulse that unleashed the never-ending war that started when he was young.
Sigismund still doesn't understand how and where the enemy managed to gather such an invincible army, and the Seer reveals to him that the attack comes from the depths of time, where they need to investigate in order to understand the exact scope and nature of its force. Sigismund accepts the dangerous mission and sets off on a secret path, with his spirit flying from his body to explore times to come.
Upon his return, he presents a detailed analysis of what he observed.
