A massive tower rises from the very center of a sprawling, densely populated city called Foundation. Although it has many names, the most common name for the vast structure was The Tower of Dreams. Inside of it was a thousand floors, each comprised of extra-dimensional space far larger than would fit within the structure of the tower. For millennia all manner of sapient species has sought to climb the danger-filled floors to the top of the tower to find out what lies at the top. The relative difficulty and danger level of the tower's floors rose steeply the further up it you progressed, and only the truly dedicated, skilled and gifted could ever make it past the first few hundred floors. In all of recorded history dating back thousands of years, only a handful of individuals have ever reached the power needed to surpass the 999th floor. Those who did were never seen or heard from again, and so the question of what was at the top of the tower persists.

Senwyn Everhome is a young human woman who grew up in the shadow of the tower. As a member of the working-class poor, Senwyn worked a truly awful job at slaughterhouse and lived as frugally as she could. She was motivated to break out of the drudgery of her life to pursue the life of an adventurer climbing the tower. Inside the tower, one could become fabulously wealthy and powerful. Success requires you to have the drive to grind away at improving your skills and levels, and the guts to face a nearly endless variety of danger. She was bound and determined to break out of the chains of poverty one way or another, even if it meant risking her life.
