The French elves fled France after the Révolution and returned to Elven Land, the land of their forefathers. Since then, they have taken over all aspects of Elven bureaucracy at every level. The story focuses on an elf named Avari, following him from early teenager to young man, who faces increasing amounts of suspicion as he grows up, as those around him - both the French state and the Elven Monastery - realise that he is special, that he can do what others can't.
