The Age of Ette, 1881: In the land of Paradis, a young farmer named Sereno discovers he is sanctified with the divine mark called the Signe Rouge. Selected as Saint Melia's chosen few, he must embark on a pilgrimage to the Illroutian. Though the mark is a blessing, those who receive it are demanded to sacrifice their lives for the sake of Melia. Despite being celebrated, it is unknown what is required of those with the rash-like pattern. Signe Rouge bearers depart, never to return. Burdened with this blessing he never sought, Sereno is obligated to undertake the pilgrimage.
