Magic is disappearing. The Source, the cornerstone of all life, is drying out. Not a single weredog pup has been born for months, mages are losing their powers at an alarming rate, and all latent humans are sucumbing to a strange disease. To make matters worse, entire sections of forest are falling prey to corruption. If nothing is done, the whole planet will collapse.

The only hope is to restore the Tree to its Main Nexus to get the Source flowing again. The problem is that no one knows where it is, and the location could be hidden in the missing grimoire of the last great mage, Steffan Wulff. Officers Sofia Bregan and David Adler will have to join forces with an old enemy, the powerful mage Leonhard Montaro. Following the clues left behind by Dave's father, they will embark on a race through magic, science, legends and the past to try to find the grimoire before it's too late.The problem is that, to save the world, they will have to be ready to destroy all humanity.
