Ember Gray would have been perfectly happy if the greatest stresses in her life were cramming for the SAT and passing the driving test. Unfortunately, her life just became far more interesting: she recently developed superpowers. Now she's being offered spots on local superhero teams, fighting crime, dodging bullets, and rescuing hostages. Whatever happened to good old math homework?

Balancing high school and hero work would have been bad enough, but there may be something deeper amiss in the city -- Something bigger pulling the strings and growing stronger in the dark. Although Ember might not know it yet, she may be the only one who can stop it.
