In a medieval world, a World Tree, whose branches pierce through heavens, appeared long ago with it's origins shrouded in mystery. A small village suffering from famine sacrifices a young boy, Kite, to the tree in hopes of appeasing their deities. After being devoured by the tree, Kite finds himself inside the world of the tree with gemstones embedded into his arms granting him control over different forms of magic.
