Ren's home life in Tokyo is anything, but average.

The strained relationship he has with his father, and his own careless attitude causes him to live a life of self-isolation. One day after school he meets a female classmate who tells him about the existence of magic that can transport people to other worlds. After fleeing home, he is caught in a flash storm that transports him and his classmate to one such world.

Long after the defeat of the last demon king, the magical world of Kai is in a state of darkness and political unrest. As new groups vie for power. Ren must join forces with fellow other-worlders at The Institute for Practical Magic, and learn more about the origins of his own hidden abilities.

To save the continent of Zen, and perhaps the world. Ren is the last arrival.
