A man who wasted his life on Earth finds himself reborn as Zel the kobold, one of the lowliest monsters in his new world of Terra. Determined not to waste his new life, he decides to achieve the dream that all kobolds share: ascend beyond mortality and become the greatest of all beings — a dragon.

Of course, such a feat is far easier said than done. Zel will have to overcome myriad challenges, from the rigid social hierarchy of his new society to the cruel no-scales who slaughter his kind and plunder their meager treasures. All Zel really has to face these challenges is his determination to see him through — but that may well be all he needs. That, and perhaps just a bit of good fortune...
