Civil War has come to the nation of Sunara.
Raithwin Corveth, a former priest and nobleman, has stoked the masses to revolution, hoping to destroy the Empire for the good of the lower classes.
The rebels have won their first major triumph against the Imperial forces in a conflict that has come to be known as the Miracle of Roshen.
During the battle, Raithwin realises that the true threat to the Rebellion is the power of the Emperor's arcane arts, bolstered by the overwhelming might of the Dragon Throne's magic.
Now, in the aftermath of their first true victory, he entrusts the fate of the rebel army to his companions and seeks to steal into the capital alone to assassinate the Emperor and clear the path to a new future for Sunara and its people.
Unbeknownst to him, Emperor Andrasius Dayn has gathered together a league of agents to combat the rising tide of revolution, and has already set a plan in motion to destroy Raithwin and undermine the rebellion. To this end, he summons aid from Brenin, a vampire-worshipping cult from Ortanium, determined to annihilate any and every threat to his power.
At Andrasius's side is the prodigal son of House Corveth: Raithwin's older brother, Valefor.
Revenge, loyalty, resolve, justice, freedom. All these abstractions have become a part of the crucible of war. Who will remain standing at the end?
