Humanity was forced to the brink of extinction long ago. What's left of humanity has to hide in tall spires of steel left to rot in their own pollution, crime and injustice. The Vertical City is a rather desperate last resort but to Hazel and her fellow peers, it is the only home they have known. Being bred and creative for combat Hazel is one of many superhumans that serve the military.

Hazel has dealt with giant worms, competitive superhumans and death on a regular basis but when monsters start appearing in the Vertical City rather than outside its walls she is sent on a mission to venture down into the lower levels a place filled with rats and scum. She'll have to learn about crime politics as she tries her best to discover the secrets of the mysterious monster's appearances and just generally survive.

There will be some dark things which is why I just did all the content warnings just to be careful. I also checked war/military tag as it is part of the story but if your looking for a detailed story about military life this isn't it.
