A man from earth is chosen by the goddess of War and Conquest, Kelesa, to be her champion on a world alien to him. His task is to participate in a competition Kelesa and the other gods of her universe take part in every five hundred years where each of their champions must battle to raise their Attributes to god-level and ascend. He takes the name Mordred as his new name to keep the other gods from using is past life against him. Mordred is different from the other champions she has chosen in the past, chosen not based on his abilities or skill in battle but for his mindset and personality which she hopes will let her champion win the game this time. If he wins he will become a new god in her pantheon, if he fails he will die; there is no respawn in this game.
