The Galaxy is dying. The light is fading, and only the Darkfoil can stop it.
For centuries, the Teserit Sect has guarded the Starealm from threats. Assassinations, pre-emptive strikes, and superior technology have given them a constant edge over their opponents. But the Starealm's influence and power over the galaxy is waning, and with unrest, rebellion, and corruption lurking around every corner of every planet, the Sect has grown unyielding in its protocol.
No matter how much Eli wants to be, he isn't the ideal Teserit Sect Apprentice. He's confident, bold, and uncontrollable. To punish him for a streak of minor violations and oversteps, the Teserit Sect has sent him on a menial mission to an empty corner of the galaxy. If he messes up, he's out.
Eli's mission is to find a missing patrol drone. But in his search, he finds much more than a drone: a low-tech society, a deadly plot to destroy the Starealm, and worst of all, magic. He is the Darkfoil, and he has a duty greater than he could ever have imagined.
