Clearance: Personnel Level 1:

A colony ship hurtles through space, far from Earth and for who knows how long.

Things are not ok. The ship is heading to impact into a distant sun and no one on the ship knows exactly when that's going to happen or what to do about it. The vast majority know nothing at all.

A man wakes up on the floor of a small side room in a distant corner of the Cryo-Lab with a partial message from the Bridge over the intercom.

The Terminal, its screen lit in sharp green phosphor; next to it, a HandPad.

He doesn't remember shit but is starting to think that he might have been in cryo a lot longer than he thought.

Clearance: Personnel Level 2:

What can you expect?

Infestations, alien crabs, insane crew, God knows what else.

There is a unique Skill and Stat development system. Shops are old-school looking, P1 phosphor green "Terminals", and there is interesting and unique gear. I'm a huge fan of both the golden age and the silver age of sci-fi. So while you won't see a T-800 there might be some sort of extremely-difficult to kill, incredibly persistent antagonist somewhere down the line. There will also be very occasional campy elements, trope-variations, and smidges of absurdist humor (don't worry, these aren't the focus, at all. The story is written to be serious).

What about magic???

It's sci-fi, so while someone can't use magic to throw a fireball at an enemy, they CAN throw a Nano-magnetic shell that's wrapped around a ball of plasma to melt someone in half.

For instance, a "wizard staff" in the Universe of MeatSpace would be a metal battlestaff loaded with a truly outrageous number of ways to tear/mutilate/melt/peel/evaporate/disintegrate/etc someone apart, with science, lasers, super-acid, degeneration beams, radiological novas, and so on.

I follow the Rule of Cool and the Rule of Not Making Shit Look Stupid. The Universe of MeatSpace has laws and the story stays within those laws. They won't be info-dumped but will be revealed to the reader along with the MC along the way. Please feel free to let me know if I break any of the in-universe laws with some feedback. I appreciate it all.

Rest assured, if I include something or a concept, I have already thought out how and when it will be later explained in the story. If you find the tone a 'bit off' in beginning it settles in subsequent chapters (as I grow as a writer).

Clearance: Personnel Level 3 | Access Granted: Give me Some Plot and Lore!

I'd recommend stopping here and exploring the universe through the story. It might be a bit confusing at first, that's because I try to avoid info-dumping as much as possible. This means it will take longer than usual to get you a complete set of information, especially when dealing with a sci-fi universe. Don't worry I explain it, I explain all of it!

For instance, "Elves," are understood as a template no matter where or how they appear, even if there are local variations depending on the setting. A hydrophilic energy sphere that dehydrates your body down to a cellular level as you pass through it, that requires a bit more explanation.

Hey! You promised me Lore! Also Plot!

MC has no memory but he has a goal and is equipped with an AI of dubious integrity. He also finds something to block with early on. Sword-ish and board, but sci-fi'd to a great degree. MC might also be, potentially, a little bit mentally unstable. He would firmly deny any such allegations.

Body Modifications and 'Level Ups' are handled through the HandPad and the Terminal. You collect Nano, you place your hand on the Terminal to get it to inject you with the changes. Thus you develop skills and increase your Personnel Level, which awards you Allocation points. For instance, you might apply Allocation earned from raising your Personnel Level from 1 -> 3. You apply Allocation to your Endurance raising it from 4->5. An Allocation point is the same as a Stat point.

It's a long road to The Bridge through the Cryo-Labs, Cargo Bay, Engineering, and other parts of the ship that have warped over the last ********* years.

Writing Schedule:

I am now posting 2k-3k word chapters 3 days a week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday. I'm looking to build up my backlog before switching back to daily schedules. Currently, the Cryo-Arc is finished and uploaded in its entirety. That's about 35% or so done with the first book. I may make additional posts on off-days, depending on my pace.

Scary things to look out for (+ means more of it, scale of 3): Violence (+++), Gore (+++), Coarse language (++), Biological modification (+++), Missing Parts (+++), Surgery (+++), Torture (+), and Sexual Content (none so far, innuendos are made).

I like my fights to be brutal and with real damage.

There are going to be multiple POV's but while some of them may increase or decrease in frequency the MC will always be the MC.
