Unbeknownst to Decoda Malion, her name means something so much more important than she realizes. When her hometown is burnt to the ground by a man in a suit and silver eyes, she unwillingly embarks on a journey of self discovery, meeting friends and foes in her quest to build up a new home. Upon meeting another Aslantian woman - who she later comes to know as "Alex", she finds out that Alex knows a lot more about her and her family than Decoda ever knew was possible. Alex seems friendly and caring, though the question still lingers: How does she know so much about Decoda's family? Things don't seem to calm down when a Flamewraith from King Carvarak's Reconnaissance order tracks Alex down. Decoda is thrown into turmoil as she is lead to believe that those she could trust are enemies, and that her unknown foes were supposed to be her friends.
