Sayako Manabu has cardiomyopathy. Don't worry, it's not like she's going to die or anything. Her heart's just weaker than others, that's all. The only people who don't treat her like she'll be hospitalized by running 3 feet are her older brother, her best friend, April Summers, and Mitchell Erickson, whom she's known since daycare. Mitchell is on the track team, a perfectly healthy high school freshman. Sayako and Mitchell like each other, but they don't know that the other likes them back.
