Avis is approached by a long time friend begging for help; she's taken up a mission she can't accomplish on her own. She needs help to assassinate the King of Derigarth, and Avis, being unknown in the kingdom and a fighter, is the only one who can do it. However, Avis isn't one to do what they're told without question, and they begin to look into their hirer's motives, what the King is like, and who the mischievous newly hired castle tailor really is. Quickly, their goal changes from taking someone's life to making it out alive themself. What's posted on here may just be the first draft and it's entirely possible (and likely) that after the release period on Royal Road the book will be edited and is subject to change before publishing.
