Twelve year old Amaryllis is head orphan with a lot of responsibilities and no time for fun. When six year old new arrival Chicory goes missing, Amaryllis must bring him back before they are both severely punished. But when a magical storm transports the two orphans far from home, the pair will have to rely on each other and the cursed-strangers they meet on the great and perilous WISH MOUNTAIN to survive.
