Stephen Kenward was 15 years old when his best friend told him the world was going to end. The apocalypse wouldn't happen for many years. Although there is no stopping it, he was given the knowledge to save worthy souls. When Stephen is met with denial and claims of insanity after pleading with his parents and anyone that would listen, he begins to question if he should even save anyone. After all, if they were willing to throw him in an asylum for trying to save their lives, did they deserve salvation? A part of him wants to believe humanity is worth saving but betrayal and abandonment fog his decisions. Doubt follows him. No one can prevent the end of the world, maybe wiping the slate clean is retribution for all our vices. Ultimately, it's Stephen's choice whether we live or die. Judgment is coming, are you ready?
Volume 1 Stephen:
Stephen Kenward, young and clever, finds himself trapped in Pandora Institute, a home for the clinically insane. During his first night, a patient breaks into his room and scars him with the number 3 on his back, the same as the room. With 12 patients and 12 rooms, Stephen wonders why the building is enormous. Every waking moment is filled with doubt but convinced his admittance is a mistake, he sets out to discover the truth. After all, his only crime is trying to stop the end of the world.
Volume 2 Aubrey:
Enrolling in a new school comes with new challenges. Aubrey expected new friends, teachers, and schoolwork, what she didn't expect was becoming part of a test for humanity's worth. After finding a girl with wounds no human could make and a young man trying to help her, the good nature in Aubrey compells her to help in any way she can. When they try to leave, however, they find the school has been locked down. No one gets to leave until a mysterious group gets what they came for, answers.
For me, this story is a way to explore a lot of the thoughts I have about life, our purpose, and our responsibility for it all.
I welcome reviews or criticism.
