The FPS Intrepid is the oldest ship in the Free Planets Space Force fleet. It is also the dumping ground for the misfits, outcasts and rejects. What happens when a decrepit reserve carrier, crewed by the worst the Space Force has to offer, suddenly finds itself on the front lines of the most devastating war in the galaxy's history?
Starship Intrepid is a light-hearted comedy sci-fi story that should appeal to fans of anime and silly comedies.
Author's notes:
I started writing this story way back in 1998. A lot has changed in the world since then and there are certain things that should be noted.
First, Starship Intrepid is not related to the Star Trek fan film of a similar name, and actually predates that production by many years.
Second, in 1998, I had never heard of a digital camera, so in a now amusing anachronism, you will read about the ship's photographer using film in his camera, despite the year of the story being 2499.
Lastly, 1998 was still in the Bill Clinton era "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy timeframe. At the time, people could be kicked out of the US military for being LGBT. Some of the dialog reflects this time period and has not been changed.
