If you want to read unfiltered drafts with the typical rawness of something unfinished, you are in the right place.
I, the author, am a typical underachiever, yet I can't stop writing for some reason. So here is The Orphan Draft. (For now,) Some (nameless) would-be novels that exist nowhere but in my head and that I would publish as I write it. Call it experimental writing or me being stupid.
Pros are:
-it could be community-driven, if it got any. I don't expect the stories and the MCs to be popular.
-there is room for improvement. Always stay positive ;)
Cons are:
-each chapter is a draft that might never become a proper novel.
-draft are not definitive so I might overwrite a lot, instead of publishing new chapter?
For the record, the experiment start on November 11th, 2021. Let's see how long it would last.
Work in progress synopsis
Draft P:
The Galorian's Chronicles (provisional name)
Earth is no more. Fortunately, some benevolent entity isekai-ed everyone to some paradise worlds, inspired by some of the most popular tabletop rpg campaign we love so much.
MC was a consistent loser both in games and life but loved gaming any way, just as much as she loved her fluffy companion and working with children. She just completed a character sheet in a new game from a franchise she loved and just became that character, for real. How would she fare in a brutal world not quite our own?
Draft S:
No name yet
Earth is no more but Earthling migrated to a magical world, where they were kept inside refugee camps by the not-so-welcoming local empire. The anti-hero named Megan, who is an adult in the body of a child, got conscript into a magic military academy of said empire. She decided to comply and learn as much as she could.
Disclaimer:
I would refrain from graphic violence of all kind, explicit sexual content and try to keep profanity to a minimum.
However, this novel start with the theme of child soldier . So I would not say the content is traumatizing but this is definitely not Harry Potter. Any adult should read it first before considering allowing a child to read this.
And any adult should do their work and speak with their children after they read a book, play a game or watch a movie with the slightest hint of all-above mentioned mature contents.
That being said, I'm a youth worker and I'm sadly aware that the squid game is all the craze among my pre-teen and that parents are definitely not doing their work. Fortunately, this novel should be a whole lot safer despite his main subject.
And if you are reading my rant until the end, you should definitely drop a Harry Potter joke in the comments for easy reputation. Have a nice day and good reading.
