Something I've been wanting to write for a while now after reading so much of a certain type of story. Is a parody of tropes I have come to hate.

Ashur Kainan grew up in the Gasharian village of Dumas. He lived in a small hut with his family up until his 10th birthday when he stumbled upon a secret that gave him both the talent and the power to be more than a simple villager. He didn't really want to do it, but through a variety of coincidences he managed to find himself in the apprenticeship of the village's only other mage, who also happened to be rather special in her own way. Now, Ashur is 16 and his first month in the famed Eucer Academy is far from what he thought it would be. When he loses his cool and duels the arrogant scion of House Draig and nearly cripples him, Ashur sets into motion a chain of events that will change the world.
