Returning home is never easy, and for Issac it's like returning to a strange land. Banished from the island for reasons that he can't even begin to remember, he's surprised to receive a letter about his father passing and the need to settle the estate. He has no desire to return, but after a mishap that put him on leave from his job as a detective on the mainland, he could use the money.
With the dangerous Spring Whirl on the horizon, he charters the last boat heading to the island and sets out to put his family matters to rest. But as soon as he arrives he finds that nothing will be as easy as he hoped. The island has fallen into disarray after his father's passing. As a builder, his father constructed anything the island needed and the call of that profession pulls at Issac even as he tries to put distance between him and his past.
There are secrets buried among the island, some that touch even on the scripture of the Old Gods and the Dweller's corruption. But some secrets should stay buried beneath the waves and the age of time. It's a lesson that Issac may have to learn for the second time.
