When a portal to the world of Emoxus appears in his bedroom, Lucian Graves is skeptical but intrigued. A group of desperate strangers charge him with turning the tide of a hopeless war against a technologically superior country.

Tempted by the their offer of a steady income, he accepts, not putting much thought into the matter until he sees people die in battle. To save the last free people of Povanga from being put to the sword, he must master his new abilities and build an army from almost nothing.
