Maria Teresa Salazar, a good girl with a wicked streak, meets billionaire financier Julian Harker in a ritzy nightclub. After one night with Maria Teresa, Julian becomes obsessed with her and isn't willing to let her go.

Meanwhile, MT's father's company is in financial trouble, so in an effort to save it, he arranges a marriage for her with the son of one of his cronies. As it turns out, Julian is the half-brother of the groom that MT doesn't even know about, and had planned their encounter at the club, down to their sizzling, intimate activities. He thwarted the wedding because he knows his half-brother would be ultimately unhappy with the marriage arrangement. Julian proposes to marry MT instead. Though feeling crushed and betrayed by him, MT marries him because the fate of her entire family depends on her.

After she and Julian move in together, they must navigate through trust issues and the intricacies of being married without knowing much about the other. As they start to fall in love, MT becomes unexpectedly pregnant. Little does she know that Julian wants nothing to do with children due to a childhood trauma that he'd never truly dealt with. As MT tries to understand this less than confident, vulnerable side of Julian, she realizes that she has her own strength and if their marriage is going to survive, she'll need to be his rock and guide him back out of the darkness.
