Think of magic.

Think of how wonderous it would be if you only had magic - of what you could change in the world. All those wrongs done unto you, all that pain, all that suffering, wouldn't magic be the easiest cure to vanquish them from the very plane of existence?

With fire, you could prevent thousands from freezing to death every year. With water, you could save milions from devastating drought. With earth, the homeless crisis would be abolished and with air, anyone who wasn't even 'anyone' could go wherever they pleased! Fleeing free from war and anguish and to the safety of utopian countries like yours would soon become.

You'd be hailed a hero, if only you had magic. "It's the weak ones that hide the most talent", yes?

Wrong.

And how do I know this, you ask? Well, for one I myself live in such a world, therefore I speak from a place of experience. For two, suffering has continued on, and rather outwardly at that. And finally for three, we still have strange members of our society like you that do nothing, yet have the audacity to peer at te evils of life and think 'oh, if only I were magic, I could fix all this mess'.

But that's besides the point. Think of your world: the dull, angry one without mana - now just add insane power at your fingertips.

All the politics, rivalries and injustices still exist, just that now everything can come with the added bons of sparkles.
