Debbie Welkin would have been content spending the rest of her life as a space station janitor, doing absolutely nothing of consequence and having no responsibilities that didn't come at the end of a mop handle.

But then she gets drafted by destiny, quite against her will, and next thing she knows she's barelling through space trying to get from point A to point B without running foul of pirates, aliens, or people who claim not to be space wizards but that Debbie is fairly sure are actually space wizards.
