Oscar lives for competetion, so much so that his life at college is suffering from sleep deprevation from playing competetive multiplayer games all night. World Runes the trading card game turns out to be one of his favourites.

After being given a mysterious ring, he finds himself in a world where cards similar to world runes have been brought to life, and as a 'Catalyst' he must wield his own magical set of cards and control his new 'battlemage' to challenge new supernatural opponents both in this world and his own.

Suddenly, the stakes for playing games become so much higher.
