Have you ever wondered how history would have been different if, in the age of the steam engine, people would have realized the amazing potential of steam power? Or if the scientific advances of the age became widespread and commonly available? Many of the inventions and discoveries of that bygone era, were only used in a limited scope or regarded as interesting curiosities. Perhaps, if there were competing groups of the well to do class that focussed on innovation and implementation of new ideas, perhaps the technological level of our world could have taken a great leap forward.
This story follows what might have been as our main characters step into the steam age that could have been.
Some people may consider this a steampunk novel, but it's more than that. It's a realistic historical fiction where every invention and device described is based on scientific principles and could have been produced with the technology of the time, if only humanity had embarked on a journey of scientific pursuit like that of the space age where there was a general feeling among the populace that advancement was not just useful, but imminently necessary.
This work is close to YA lit. in some respects, but there will be some solid thinking and disscusions. Perhaps even a little romance will show up in volume two, but it's not written yet, so I'm not sure.
