Rose had never known light. For eighteen years, she'd lived alongside her mother in a pitch-black cave. Her mother would tell her stories, they would fight husks and bathe in the purple waters of their home. It was as comfortable a life as Rose believed she could hope for. She never asked for more. Then, her mother passed away.
