When the world ended at the end of 2057, Kevin slept through it. He'd been drumming all night.
He trips into the Internal Strength Dimension where Thaumaturgy is king. With the help of a talking plant and several viscious monkeys he learns that the rule is "Change or die." Kevin changes, but remains firmly a drummer, or whatever role that might be in this high fantasy setting [ed: BARD!!!]
This is Kevin's adventure, and that of the friends he meets.
Reasons not to read this fiction:
1. Short chapters. By chapter 30, they're up to 1000 words.
2. Kevin has a bit of a potty mouth. Your author tried to constrain that, but mostly failed. In my defense, he's a drummer in a stressful situation.
3. We start by getting to know Kevin, which takes a bit. No monster-killing on page 3.
4. Slow growth. He's not going to be a world-destroyer by page 50. He's mildly competent at page 100.
5. Eventually, party/group centric. Not the story of a soloist. Unless you want drum solos. Then definitely.
6. Kevin's opinions are not those of the author. Nor are Alec's. They are, as far as I've been able to figure them, the opinions of the characters. You won't agree with them all. You may find some wrongbad.
7. Comments, corrections and such are appreciated greatly. First fiction, makes feedback especially useful
8. Any resemblance to people living or dead is accidental, or if not, then intended as kind humor.
9. Posts every day. Sometimes more than once.
10. Not everyone wins. Not even all the good guys.
