Research and Development Cohort Five—a band of misfit teenagers—are eight of these magic tools. Entrenched in shadow wars between nations, these underage supersoldiers are mere "assets." Property of the government.

They serve MACHINA, a black-ops agency tasked to protect the United States from supernatural threats. Cohort Five has one purpose: to stand against the forces of Heaven and Hell, of Earth and Elsewheyr.
