Thread: Curious about same chapter releases

How are people able to post a link for a chapter when it already previously exists. For example: Person A posts chapter 15, and five minutes later, Person B posts link for same chapter 15. I have seen many series with this situation and when I have tried, it will not allow me to post as "it already exists". Yet, others are able to post regardless? Look at Xian Ni or Ni Tian Xie Shen for example. This happens regardless whether they are from the same group or from a different translating group.

The duplicate releases are an artifact of the automatic release filter system.

The auto-release system uses a different interface for generating release entries, that has a much more relaxed ruleset for duplicates, primarily because I have not come up with an effective way of determining which rss feed entry is the 'original' source. As such, the unique constraints placed on automated releases are the compound of chapter, volume, URL and 'extra' columns, whereas the user-facing interface simply filters by chapter number, and if the chapter exists, blocks the release.

In retrospect, I should expose the facility to allow users to add duplicated releases for a chapter, as long as the translation group differs. I'll see about patching that facility in tomorrow.

I'm not sure what I was thinking when I implemented the user release addition system that way. Its definitely non-ideal the way it is.

Ok, the add-release facility should be much more relaxed about duplicate series now.

Basically, unless you're adding a duplicate chapter, with a duplicate URL, it should now allow it.
